I'm an El Monte resident — should I use Valley Vista's free pickup first?
If you can wait for your trash day and the items qualify (residential furniture, appliances, mattresses), yes — Valley Vista's 20 yearly pickups are free and effective. Call 800-442-6454 to schedule. You'd hire us when you've used your 20 already, when the timeline matters (move-out, estate, post-renovation), or when items don't qualify (construction debris, business stuff, hazmat).
Do you cover both 91731 and 91732?
Yes — both El Monte zips at the same flat-rate, same response window. 91731 covers the central and west side (including Park El Monte, Northwest El Monte, downtown). 91732 covers the east side (Mountain View, Norwood-Cherrylee, Norwood Village, East El Monte). Our dispatch is centered to reach both within ~2 hours.
What about South El Monte and Avocado Heights?
Both covered, but they're separate areas with separate context. South El Monte (91733) is its own city with Athens Services as the waste contractor — see our South El Monte page. Avocado Heights is unincorporated LA County with no municipal bulky program — see the Avocado Heights page.
Do you handle the El Monte HHW facility drop-offs?
No — we can't haul hazmat in our trucks (Cal/OSHA regulations on certified hauling). The City facility at 3990 Arden Drive accepts paint, solvents, oil, batteries, propane, and electronics for free from City residents. Call 626-580-2250 first to confirm hours. We'll route your hazmat there as part of any mixed-job quote.
